To ensure our patients and users receive harm-free care by improving the quality and safety of our services through the delivery of our quality and safety programme.
To improve our patient and service user experience through the delivery of a personalised, responsive, caring and compassionate approach to the delivery of care.
To develop our staff and future workforce to support the integration and transformation of our services whilst ensuring we recruit and retain talented individuals.
To continue to align and redesign our hospital, community, social care, primary care, mental health and voluntary/community sector services in order to facilitate our integrated neighbourhood approach.
To develop and support our five primary care neighbourhood hubs and key partners. Enabling them to deliver new integrated service models in order to improve our health and wellbeing objective:
- To prevent ill-health and to live healthy, independent lives wherever possible
- To manage any ongoing health conditions more effectively in their own homes and communities
- To access joined-up services in the most appropriate location
To deliver against the required local/national regulatory frameworks and standards in addition to securing the most effective and efficient use of resources to deliver services that we provide directly or indirectly through our partner organisations.

Our Improvement Journey
Led by Karen James, the CEO, and the Medical Director Brendan Ryan, within three years the Trust has gone from being rated as ‘Inadequate’ by the CQC to being rated as ‘Good’ in the inspection that took place in August 2016.
This was recognised by the CQC as a huge achievement in such a short space of time. The Trust now plans to continue the improvement journey and is aiming to achieve an ‘Outstanding’ status. In addition to this, Tameside & Glossop has redefined and developed its strategy with the aim of becoming a fully Integrated Care Organisation. To this aim, the organisation now provides acute and community services, with plans in place to integrate with adult social care services. This is reflective of the Trusts ambitions to become a fully ‘integrated’ health and social care provider.
