Training & Development

We recognise that your development is important to you and also the quality of the care that we deliver to our patients. Therefore you will be supported in your development with individualized training plans that are discussed as part of your appraisal and development. Your journey of lifelong learning, whether you are in your first post following qualification, or you are an experienced practitioner joining our team, is key to making your place of work somewhere you will be able to thrive, learn and develop.

Staff Induction

On joining the Trust you will be provided with a full induction to the organisation, which includes mandatory and information about the organisation. You will also receive an induction specific to your area of work.


Here at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust we know that you care about your patients.  That is why we care about you.  As a newly qualified registrant you are in a period of transition which is why it is important for us to support you as you develop into a competent and confident professional at the start of your journey of life-long learning.

Tameside and Glossop IC NHS Foundation Trust are committed to ensuring that all new registrants are supported with a preceptorship package that is individual to you.  As part of your preceptorship programme you will receive:-

  • A 6 month structured Preceptorship Programme.
  • A minimum of four weeks supernumerary status.
  • You will have the opportunity to undertake bespoke Rotational Programmes.
  • You will have an assigned Preceptor.
  • You will have regular meetings with your Preceptor and the Preceptorship Team.
  • There will always be somebody there to speak to.
  • You will attend training sessions, forums and study days.
  • We will pay for your first year’s professional fees.
  • You will have peer group support.
